Caring Companies

May 8, 2011

Here’s a list of local companies that donated items to our silent auction:

  • Bud’s
  • Espresso Bay
  • Aromas
  • City Mac
  • Great Wolf Lodge
  • Studio 415
  • Mike Staff

If would be great if we could support these companies that helped support us.  Please share our appreciation with them if you stop by.

Thanks!

Many!

May 7, 2011

Words cannot express how much we appreciate the generosity of our church family.  Together, you donated nearly $6,000 towards our adoption expenses.  What an unbelievable expression of love to our family.  I wish I knew a better way to say thank you.

Our shirts say “one,” but the truth is we couldn’t do this without the help of “many.”  That’s been true with all of our children.  I’m so excited for our son to meet all of you.

Thank you, again!

The Hines

So many of you have helped us so much with the adoption so far.  I just wanted to share this as an encouragement to you.  We are so thankful.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them,‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ – Matthew 25:31-40

Also, I think you would love a song by Josh Bronleewe called ‘Gave Me A Home.’  You can listen to it here:  http://www.rhapsody.com/josh-bronleewe/gave-me-a-home-single.

It’ll Make You Famous

I have this idea for the t-shirts that I’m hoping all of you will jump on board with.  Given all of the support that we’ve gotten from all around the country, I think it would be awesome if everyone who purchases a shirt would go to a place in his/her city or town that he/she thinks really represents it.  While there, he/she could have someone take his/her picture in the shirt and then send the picture to me.  Group shots would be great, too.  I’ll compile all of the pictures into probably the coolest photo album known to man.  While the little guy is growing up, we can show him pictures of all the people that helped bring him home to us.

So what do you think?  Are you in?  (<hint> Try the comment feature!<hint>)

Government Shutdown

April 8, 2011

A government shutdown means we won’t be able to get our fingerprinting done for the adoption. Even though it could cause a delay, we certainly appreciate those fighting for a reasonable budget that cuts wasteful spending. We’re watching closely.

Book ’em, Danno!

In the mail today we received our fingerprinting appointments for next week. Mine is actually for two weeks after Lauri’s, but we called and they said they’ll usually be able to get us both in at the same visit. After that is done, we wait for an approval to be sent. That should take a couple weeks or so and then we mail off our dossier. We put the check in the mail, so there shouldn’t be any steps needed before we begin waiting for a referral. So far, we haven’t had any real hang-ups with timing and we’re praying that we can continue that streak.
